No! The classes at SBG are there to build everyone up no matter what physical condition you start in.
No! We have a several programs designed specifically for students with ZERO prior martial arts experience.
No. In fact, only about 1 out of 10 students at SBG compete. We have a strict rule concerning competition – We never ask anyone to compete. The students that compete for SBG do so because it’s something they want to do. Our fantastic competition results aren’t because we run a competition school. It’s simply due to superior coaching and solid fundamentals.
We have several classes across numerous programs occurring every day. It can be a bit confusing, and for that reason we encourage everyone to meet with a team member in person to discuss the best training schedule for you personally.
Membership cost is tied directly to the programs you choose to enroll in and what payment method works best for you. This will look a little different for everyone, and for that reason we encourage everyone to meet with a team member in person to discuss your payment options.
Our world-renowned Growing Gorillas Program starts teaching martial arts technique, discipline, confidence, and leadership skills to children as young as 3 years old.
At SBG age is just a number. We have students of all ages, some well into their 60s! If you’re a little unsure, we encourage you to meet with a team member to discuss your concerns individually. We also invite you to participate in a tour to get a better understanding of what training is like and how it agrees with you.
With any form of physical activity or sport there is a risk of injury. But with the programs and procedures we have in place at SBG, the risk of injury is extremely low. In fact, most of the time when a student gets injured it’s more likely due to work or another physical activity or sport.
No one starts off “good”. The improvement occurs through consistent training, and your coaches at SBG are there to ensure that your training sessions provide every opportunity for that improvement.
Yes, the majority of our classes are co-ed but we also have several training times that are only for our female students. These are for anyone that don’t yet feel comfortable training with men. You will find that everyone on the SBG mats is treated with respect no matter what gender or orientation they are. We are here to learn and progress. This is why you will find many female coaches and competitors at SBG.
